Monthly workshop series

As part of the program, the Department of Engineering Education hosts a workshop for the E3 Fellows once per month, every month of the appointment — August 2026 through April 2027. Each session pairs practical instructional skills with the research, computing, and data foundations fellows need for their scholarly teaching project.

Semester one

Fall 2026 workshops

Sessions run one per month from August through December 2026. Open a session to read its agenda — speakers and details for upcoming sessions are posted monthly.

  1. W1. E3 Fellows Launch: Program Overview, Canvas & Teaching Resources at UF

    Session details

    The inaugural meeting of the cohort — what the year ahead looks like, who is in it with you, and how to get a course stood up in Canvas before the semester starts.

    • Welcome & E3 Fellows program overview — an introduction to the program, its goals, activities, and what you can expect throughout the year.
    • Meet & socialize — an opportunity to meet the other E3 Fellows, learn about each other’s backgrounds and interests, and build our cohort community.
    • Getting started with Canvas — setting up and organizing your Canvas course for the semester.
    • Canvas guidelines, tips & tricks — practical tips for using Canvas effectively, including modules, assignments, announcements, communication, and course organization.
    • Teaching resources at UF — an overview of resources available to support your teaching and professional development.
    • Open Q&A — bring any questions you have about Canvas, course setup, teaching at UF, or other instructional resources.

  2. W2. Accessible Course Materials & HiPerGator 101

    • Sep 18, 2026
    Session details

    Two sessions: making what you hand students usable by all of them, and putting UF’s supercomputer to work in your courses and your research.

    • Making your course materials accessible — strategies and resources for making your course materials more accessible. Led by Dr. John Mendoza-Garcia.
    • Using HiPerGator for your courses and research — an introduction to HiPerGator and how you can use it for your courses and your research. Led by Dr. Matt Gitzendanner.

Semester two

Spring 2027 workshops

The series continues at the same monthly cadence through the spring, as fellows implement and evaluate their instructional innovations. Topics, speakers, and dates for these four sessions will be posted monthly during the fall semester.
